2008 has already presented a wide range of challenges and interesting projects for InTuition.

Sri Lanka revisited
In January, Linda was delighted to return to Sri Lanka to conduct an evaluation of the Learning Support and Capacity Building Programme she was involved in setting up 3 years earlier following the tsunami.  The progress of the programme is heartening and the team are highly respected for their quality work, commitment and professionalism. Whilst the overall objectives have not changed significantly over time, the programme has adapted to constraints and changing circumstances – in particular the deteriorating security situation. The programme is a leading light in determining ways to build local capacity.

The Cluster Approach to Humanitarian Emergencies
The cluster approach, introduced in 2005, is aimed at enhancing humanitarian response capacity, predictability, accountability and partnership.  A key role within this approach is the Cluster Coordinator. In February 2006, Linda conducted an evaluation of the Emergency Shelter Cluster approach in Pakistan following the earthquake.  Building on this experience, she and her colleague Gill Price, Inter-face Development, won the tender to design, develop and deliver a 5-day training course for WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion) Cluster Coordinators in Montreux, Switzerland in December 2007. This training is now being rolled out and Linda is the lead facilitator for events in Bangkok in April, Kathmandu in July, and Nairobi  in September 2008.

All In Diary  (www.allindiary.org)
This practical tool for field-based humanitarian workers, had a successful 6 month trial in 2007 – with 400 copies being distributed across 30 countries worldwide.  The trial has been independently evaluated, and the next steps are to gain charitable status for the All In Diary, and attract funding for testing the production and distribution in a country-specific disaster.Meantime, the All In Diary is supporting the relief efforts in Myanmar and China through its website

World Health Organisation
In March, Linda designed, facilitated and co-delivered a two day module for the World Health Organisation on 'Health Sector in the Broader Humanitarian Context' covering current legal frameworks, systems and reforms, and how the humanitarian health sector, and WHO, operates within this environment.  This training took place in Hammamet, Tunisia.
